The Alumni in the Community program has been created for former high school UKSD members as they move into adulthood. It allows them to stay involved in a capacity that suits their lives, whether in college or in the workforce.
The program is designed to help them stay connected to UKSD, and it allows our alumni the opportunity to continue their own work, as well as be strong role models for current UKSD participants. Although this looks different for each alumni member, we work collaboratively to help continue their journey with UKSD.
For some of our alumni, this continued partnership exists in the form of communication, offering support and mentorship while they’re away, and always giving them opportunities to stay involved when they visit back home. Many alumni will continue to work with UKSD in some capacity, or we will help find connections which can assist them in their chosen professional fields.
For others, we will actually travel to their schools or workplaces with current UKSD participants. This not only keeps the alumni involved within the program, but it enables them to begin to serve as mentors and role models for the next generation of UKSD members.
On a bigger scale, for those who seek to implement their own UKSD programs within their new communities, we work alongside them to get them up and running. UKSD lead coaches will travel to the community in which the alumni feels could benefit from our program, we will assist in coaching training, visit local organizations to set up partnerships, etc. After the program is launched, we also continue ongoing connections, guidance, and assistance, so that our alumni can continue to grow and pass along the UKSD message of helping the community through soccer. All in all, it is so important that we continue to work with, guide, and support our participants. Our program is built around a sense of community, and maintaining our connection with each member is a way of fostering and building these meaningful relationships.
